Tokyo , Japan - Creative unveiled plans for its newest development in sound technologies, aimed at the "rap and dance music enthusiast."
Creative spokesperson, Brian Souder said, "We found that 5.1 and 7.1 surround were popular technologies for consumers that wanted realistic sound quality in their homes. We understand, though, there is also a consumer group that would like to remove the frivolities of vocals and sound detail for pure bass"
The new Creative 1.5 BangBoomBlaster soundcard will connect to five individual subwoofers, with an optional connection for a normal speaker. These subwoofers can then be fitted around the home to produce synchronized bass line output, drowning out any inconvenient background noise. Early reports state that trials have caused heavy vibrations that reached 6.7 on the Richter scale, which Souder described as "promising."
Asked about the effects of the range of 1.5 on surrounding homes, Souder quoted "Obviously, we expect our customers to use the product sensibly and Creative will accept no responsibility for social disturbances caused by use of 1.5 surround. Also, as a courtesy it might be a good idea to tell neighbors to secure all loose items."
Creative is already working on an adaptable version that can be fitted within cars, trucks and SUVS. That product will be for "consumers who wish to share their investment with the rest of the world." Unfortunately, major service stations are refusing to fuel cars fitted with 1.5 Surround for safety reasons.
Creative will be unveiling 1.5 Surround in Spring 2006, as soon as they have confirmed that the structural faults at their test lab were present before testing began.
