I’ve started playing Baldur’s Gate 3, and that’s taken up a lot of my time. I’ve just entered Act 2 and have been impressed by the game so far. Glad to be playing something other than Dota 2 or Minecraft. And now your “Daily Links”…
Decisions, Decisions – People are taking a long time deciding what to watch on streaming services. Content discovery and probably the content sucking are probably the root cause.
UAP Data – Get access to alien technology.
Blimpy Emacs – How to type the word “blimpy” in Emacs (video).
Found in a Book – Items found in library books.
Whoa – A Keanu Reeves “whoa” database.
Congrats on getting sucked into BG3 like so many of us! I am a huge fan of DOS:2 so was super stoked for BG3. I don’t have ton of time to devote to it, but I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I’ve done everything on the main Act 1 map, and am most of the way through the Underdark now. I’m running as close to a goody-two-shoes party as I can for my first playthrough with Wyll as my main along with Shadowheart, Gale, and Karlach. What kind of party are you running?
I’m a drow ranger and have lately been running with Gale, Shadowheart and either Karlach or Lae’zel. I’m into Act 2 now and have reached the moonrise tower. I know I have missed things in this playthrough, but I expect to have at least one more playthrough once this one is done.
As a D&D player since the late 80’s I love it when games like BG3 come out. I only played it for a short when it came out as I had other work and other obligations. I thought I’d play it some this weekend since I had an extended weekend but I ended up playing Starfield (I forgot I pre-ordered it. That game has me sucked away in a vacuum.
I will circle back around the BG3 as I did really enjoy it. The hardest part is finding a group that can work with my schedule for team play. All my old gamer friends are already playing in groups.
Yeah, I was hoping to play a lot more this weekend, because Mrs. BBspot was away, but I ended up getting sick on Sunday so spent that whole day in bed. I haven’t played it in a group yet. I think that would be fun, but doubt anyone can work with my schedule.
I am also an old gamer with not too much time play – maybe the three of us could carve out some weekly time for a (slow) playthrough? I can spare a couple hours on a Saturday or Sunday. Gaming during the week is trickier – maybe an hour between 9 and 11 one night. I am on Eastern time. If you are interested, Brian should have our email addresses from the forum posts.
BTW another nice game to play for busy people like us is Civ 6 using Play by Cloud. The save is kept in the Steam cloud automatically and everyone takes their turn in order. Steam notifies you when it is your turn. I am currently playing that with my son (in the house) and my daughter (off at college). I would be up for starting a game of that with you guys, too.
Go ahead and search for my full name or this website on steam, and it should come up. Add me.
